Receiving inspiration from nature, meditation and music, Susan designs and creates ceramic 3D sculptures and bas relief panels that generate lasting light and healing energy where they reside. The work results in transformative pieces whose energetic effects live on after the construction process is complete.

Susan’s Earth Acupuncture Sculptures are unique ceramic pieces that are built, carved, sculpted and wood-fired on-site where they will ultimately reside. The construction of these pieces requires a team of assistants; uses earth, air, fire, water, and spirit to generate light; and celebrates the connections between nature, art, and the human experience. With Susan’s intentional design, construction and firing, the sculpture gathers light to then radiate and heal the landscape and those who experience it.

At Maidenhair Studio, Susan creates clay pieces as small as beads and as large as 2 foot tall sculptures that all contain the living light that she intends. Some pieces are designed as sets and others with their own unique purpose. Intimate pieces are created here and can be done so with specific requests from clients.
